Back from YCAMP Challenge!!!
Thank God for the safe trip!!! I returned safe and sound even though we got attacked by insects and bugs!!! Some people got bitten quite badly until the point that the camp had to be canceled off half way!!! Pray for all the people who got injured or bitten that they will recover soon Lord!!! And I also thank You greatly for guiding the YMCA committee so that they came to the right decision the control the whole situation!!! Because after all, our health is still of number 1 importance!!!
There are many take aways for me from this camp!!! Firstly, its from my SCAS buddy!!!I really looked at them from an entirely different light now!!!Despite of his physical disability and mentally challenge, he is just as any one of us!!! He likes Chris Brown! He listens to music all the time!!! He likes to dance!!! Basically, he's quite Hip!!!!The thing which amazed me the most is how he was so willing to try the high elements again!!! He climbed up for the first time, then stopped half way becaused he was too scared!!! But after I talked to him for a while, he agreed to try again!!!And he was too willing to take off the harness, so he insisted on wearing it so that he would be the firts one to climb to rock wall!!!!I'm so proud of him!!!And I was struck by his bravery as well!!! How many of us would be able to climb up again after the first time of being scared to death up there??? How many of us would be able to face our fear and most of all, have a strong will to overcome it???I really think that I'm more blessed physically, but there are so much in their spirits that I have to learn from!!! Helping my buddy in his walking and eating and normal daily activities is not very easy cos he was much heavier than I thought!!!I was very stressed at first because I must make sure that he is safe 24/7!!!And he kept grabbing my lower arm to gain balance while walking till my whole lower arm went red and smelled like chicken (because he used his hands to eat chicken wingssss!!!!)!!! But thank goodness I got used to it after a while!!! And I was glad because he was treating me like his friend and his supporter!!!I feel really blessed! Thank God that I made the right decision to come!!!
I need to go for service now!!!
